I am on my second set, use it almost daily and have definitely noticed a difference in my upper arms and legs! Dryness is so much better and the crepey-ness is gradually, noticeably better!!

  • no water and no fillers. most lotion is largely water, so it leaves as it dries. these stay on your skin and keep working.
  • built for arms, chest and knees. where crepey skin shows first, and where body care usually stops.
  • the real routine, in a smaller size. same formulas, about a week of use, so you can find out before you commit.

a note from tracy, founder

crepey skin runs deep in my family.

i watched it on my mother’s arms, and on my grandmother’s before that. i can see the genetics working on mine.

i started making these formulas in my thirties. first for the clients on my massage table, then for myself, because i could not find anything that was not mostly water, filler and chemicals. i am fifty-four now and i still use them nearly every day, and what i have seen in my own skin is why i had to share them.

here is what i want you to know. this is not a failure of care. it is not something you let happen to yourself. and it is not too late.

thirty years of working with people’s bodies has proven to me, over and over, that living tissue responds to what you repeatedly ask of it. that is true of your muscles, it is true of your fascia, and it is true of your skin. how your skin looks and how it feels will respond to what you ask of it, at any age.

so jump in. start building your healthiest skin.

what crepey skin is, in short

crepey skin is skin that has become thinner and less elastic, so it gathers into fine lines that look and feel like crushed tissue paper. it is most common on the upper arms, the chest, the knees and above the elbows.

it is not the same as dry skin, though dryness makes it look worse. the two things that change how it looks are keeping the skin consistently nourished, and doing it in an order that lets the nourishment actually reach it: clear the surface, feed damp skin, then concentrate on the areas that need more.

what crepey skin is

skin has a layer of collagen and elastin underneath that keeps it springy and full. over time that layer thins, and the skin above it has less to hold onto. instead of sitting smooth it settles into fine, close-together lines that shift when you move.

most people notice it first on the upper arms, often in a mirror or a photograph rather than by feel. it tends to appear across a whole area rather than in one line, which is what makes it read differently from a wrinkle.

how it differs from dry skin and from wrinkles

these get mixed up constantly, and it matters, because they do not respond to the same things.

crepey skindry skinwrinkles
what you see fine lines across a whole area, like tissue paper flaking, tightness, dullness single deeper lines, often where you move
what you feel thin and loose to the touch rough, tight after washing usually nothing
where arms, chest, knees, above the elbows anywhere, worse on shins and forearms face, neck, hands
does moisture change it changes how it looks and feels, with consistency yes, quickly subtly

the practical point: dryness makes crepey skin look worse than it is, so treating the dryness alone gives you a real improvement, and then it stops. that is the moment most people conclude nothing works.

why it happens

time

the supporting layer thins gradually from your twenties onward. this is the largest factor and it is not a failure of care.

sun

cumulative exposure over decades breaks down elastin faster than time alone. it is why the arms and chest usually show it first.

dryness

skin with little moisture in it sits flatter and shows every line. this is the part you have the most influence over.

where it shows up

the areas that get the most sun and the least attention, usually in this order.

upper armschest and décolletageabove the elbows kneesforearmsneckhands

what actually helps

four things, and only one of them is a product.

we would rather tell you the truth than sell you a miracle. crepey skin does not disappear. how it looks and feels changes, sometimes a lot, and it changes through repetition rather than through any single thing you buy.

consistency, above everything

the women who write to tell us their arms changed are almost always the ones who were still doing it three months later. not the ones who bought the most.

moisture that stays put

turn over the lotion you own. water is usually the first ingredient listed, which means it is the largest. it leaves as it dries. oils and butters stay on your skin and keep working.

clearing the surface first

a layer of dry, dead surface skin sits between your skin and anything you apply. removing it two or three times a week is what lets the rest do its job.

sun protection from here on

covering your hands, arms and chest slows the thing that caused this in the first place.

the three steps

your skin is asking for three different things.

dry surface skin, damp skin and crepey areas each need something different. so we made three products, each formulated for its own job. they build on one another and work together to give you your best results.

1
two to three times a week

scrub

salt in oil, never water. it lifts away the dry surface layer and leaves oil behind, so that what follows can reach your skin instead of sitting on top of it.

2
every day

oil

concentrated plant oils with nothing diluting them. it goes on while you are still damp, so it works with the water already on your skin rather than replacing it.

3
wherever your skin asks

butter

the richest of the three. built for the places that need more than an oil can give them: arms, above the elbows, knees and chest.

what to expect, and when

honestly, here is the timeline.

the first week
  • skin feels softer almost immediately
  • it looks hydrated again
  • that is the moisture, not a change in the skin itself
  • a fair way to judge whether you like using it
around a month
  • the areas you have been consistent with look smoother
  • usually clearest on the upper arms
  • often in certain light before it shows in all of it
three months on
  • this is where people notice it in photographs
  • the change holds rather than fading between uses
  • the women who stay with it this long write to tell us

individual skin experiences and results vary. these products support how skin looks and feels. they are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition.

one customer, one arm

the same skin, at three points in time.

this is one woman who sent us her photographs. we have not retouched them, moved the camera or changed the light.

day 0before she started
after one usescrub, oil and butter, once
day 90the routine, three times a week

the two changes are not the same thing. what you see after one use is moisture, and it fades. what you see at ninety days is what happens when skin is asked for the same thing over and over. that is the difference the whole routine is built around, and it is why we would rather sell you a week than a miracle.

the essential routine mini, scrub oil and butter with the free bag

where to start

the whole routine, in a size that lasts about a week.

the essential routine mini is the real scrub, oil and butter, in smaller sizes. long enough to feel how the three steps work together and to learn what your skin responds to. not long enough to judge how your skin changes over time, which is what the full sizes are for.

These products have saved my skin. I lived in a very dry climate and the wrinkles on my arms and legs were really bothering me. I looked dehydrated. This is the only product I have tried that worked and has renewed my skin. I am a fan for life.

I started using hellomellow because I was looking for a natural product and for something to help my crepey skin. At the advice of Tracy, I bought the essential balance set. She suggested using the scrub 2 x a week then the oil daily while my skin was still damp then filling with the body butter. I am already seeing a vast improvement in my crepy skin on my arms.

The salt scrub has the perfect amount of grit, truly exfoliating without feeling harsh, and it leaves my skin unbelievably smooth. The real surprise for me was applying the oil in the shower before stepping out. I've never tried that before, but I'm completely sold. My skin feels soft in a way regular lotions never achieve.

questions

what people ask us about crepey skin.

can crepey skin be reversed?

no, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling something. the thinning underneath is structural. what does change is how the skin looks and feels, and that change can be significant enough that people notice it in photographs. the honest goal is improvement in appearance, not reversal.

can i stop it from getting worse?

you have more influence here than you do over the skin you already have. sun is the biggest accelerator, so covering your hands, arms and chest slows the thing that caused it in the first place.

after that it is consistency. skin that is kept nourished holds its condition for longer, and the areas you look after tend to hold better than the ones you skip. starting today still counts.

is crepey skin just dry skin?

no, but dryness makes it look considerably worse. that is why moisturising gives a quick, real improvement and then appears to stop working. the dryness is fixed and the underlying thinning is not.

why does it show on my arms first?

the upper arms and chest get decades of sun exposure with very little care compared to the face, and the skin there is thinner to begin with. it is the most common place people first notice it.

does body lotion help crepey skin?

it helps with the dryness, which is a genuine part of the problem. most lotion is largely water, so it leaves as it dries and has to be reapplied to keep the same effect. oils and butters stay on the skin longer, which is why they tend to suit crepey areas better.

how long before i see a difference?

softer to the touch within days. a visible difference takes considerably longer and depends on how consistent you are. most of the people who tell us they saw a change were three months in.

do i have to use all three steps?

the oil daily is the one to protect if you are going to skip something. the scrub is what lets the oil reach the skin, and the butter is for the areas that want more than the oil gives them. they were built to work as a sequence.

where should i start?

the essential routine mini gives you all three steps in smaller sizes, about a week of the routine used as directed. if you already know you want to stay with it, the full-size essential routine is the same three products in sizes that last.
